When we pursue our "happiness" as is our right outlined in the Declaration of Independence, the World, if our gial is Right, helps. This truth is evident in fairy tales. Cinderella wanting the happiness of attending the Ball, lifts her consciousness, making her fairy god-mother aware. Thus, she gets the ocach gown and glass slippers necessary to be happy.
Gotta admit this has also been my experience. Jonathan, you and I have pursued unlikely careers in which we've had to carve unique paths. In doing so, I've often found that it's as if the Universe asks me if I'm truly serious/committed, and then once ascertained, opens the door. I like your fairy tale analogy (and I'm also a fan of fairy tales — Bruno Bettelheim, etc). My point in this piece is more that without a sense of presence / consciousness / spaciousness / the mind/ego gets its grip on everything and nothing, not even fulfillment of our fondest dreams, renders lasting satisfaction.
